description
- A Shaft Locking Device is made up of one inner ring and one outer ring, which are held together with socket head cap screws. These rings have an inclined plane built into them. Turning the screws brings the rings together, causing the rings to expand and fill the gap between the shaft and the hub. The pressure exerted by the expanded Shaft Locking Device on the hub I.D. and shaft O.D. creates grip, which allows it to hold the shaft and hub together without the need for a key, spline, or other traditional means of connection. The connection creates a very simple, yet effective, high torque mechanical interference fit that is easy to assemble and disassemble.
features
- Infinite axial and radial adjustability
- Allows for precise positioning to eliminate axial preloading
- Easy mounting and dismounting
- Zero backlash/mechanical interference fit
- Can transmit high torque
- Unaffected by shock loads, vibration, or reversing loads
- No fretting corrosion/no bonding of parts
- Eliminates keyways
caution
- Design allows for possible axial shifting of components relative to the shaft, so utilize this device where exact positioning is not critical
