- Single-stage valves operate by the application of pressure on the end of the valve spool, acting against a spring which is loaded by means of the manual adjustment mechanism.
- The spool is offset by the spring such that flow cannot pass through the valve.When the force exerted by the pilot pressure on the spool end exceeds the force of the main spring, the spool is moved to allow flow through the valve.
